Introduction

In today’s fast-paced workplace environment, how to balance work and life and improve employees’ happiness has become the focus of corporate attention. At the same time, as society pays more attention to traditional culture, integrating traditional culture into modern workplace activities has become a trend. Therefore, Shandong Nearchemical jointly organized a tea tasting and flower arranging event with “Shangshufang” on International Women’s Day, which not only allowed traditional culture to be inherited and innovated in the modern workplace, but also demonstrated the strength and beauty of contemporary working women.

Background and purpose of the event

International Women’s Day is an important festival to celebrate the achievements of women in the economic, political and social fields. The company Shandong Nearchemical chose to hold the “Spring is here, flowers are here” tea tasting and flower arranging event with “Shangshufang” on this day, not only to send holiday greetings to female employees, but also to provide an opportunity to relax and improve their cultivation. This event design reflects the company’s emphasis on employee welfare and respect for traditional culture.

The founder and leader of Shangshufang happens to be a woman, who uses her own insights to open up the world of tea and flowers for us. The speaker, Rita, has studied tea art for a long time, and she uses what she has seen and learned to explain to us the past and present of “tea”.

The main purpose of the event is to allow female employees to cultivate their sentiments and cultivate their character through tea tasting and flower arranging in their busy work. As an important part of Chinese traditional culture, tea culture and flower arranging art contain profound historical heritage and philosophical thoughts. By learning these traditional arts, participants can not only improve their personal cultivation, but also enhance their understanding and recognition of Chinese traditional culture. At the same time, the event also provides a platform for female employees to communicate and interact, which helps to enhance team cohesion and show the unique charm of modern women.

Tea culture learning and practicing

In the tea culture learning session, the activity first introduced the historical origins and development of Chinese tea culture. From Lu Yu’s “Tea Classic” in the Tang Dynasty to the tea-making skills in the Song Dynasty, and then to the evolution of tea ceremony in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, participants were able to fully understand the profoundness of Chinese tea culture. Subsequently, the activity explored the spirit of tea ceremony in depth, including the core ideas of “harmony, respect, purity, and silence”, as well as the philosophy of life and the way of dealing with the world contained in the tea ceremony.

In the practice session, participants learned the identification, brewing techniques and tea tasting etiquette of tea. By brewing and tasting tea by hand, everyone not only mastered the basic tea art skills, but also deeply experienced the life attitude of tranquility and self-cultivation advocated by the tea ceremony. This process not only improved the cultural literacy of the participants, but also found a way for them to relax and regulate their emotions after busy work.

Learning and practice of flower arrangement arting

As another traditional cultural form, flower arrangement art also adds a strong cultural atmosphere to the event. The activity first introduced the historical development of Chinese flower arrangement art, from the palace flower arrangement in the Tang Dynasty to the literati flower arrangement in the Song Dynasty, and then to the folk flower arrangement in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, showing the characteristics and evolution of flower arrangement art in different historical periods. Subsequently, the activity explained in depth the basic techniques and aesthetic principles of flower arrangement, including the selection of flowers, color matching, and the balance of composition.

In the practical session, participants tried flower arrangement creation by themselves. By combining theoretical knowledge with practice, everyone not only mastered the basic flower arrangement skills, but also deeply experienced the natural beauty and life force contained in the art of flower arrangement. This process not only cultivated the aesthetic ability and creativity of the participants, but also provided them with a platform to express themselves and show their personality. The completion of flower arrangement works is not only the inheritance of traditional culture, but also the display of the unique charm of modern women.

The integration of traditional culture and women's power

The tea tasting and flower arranging activities masterfully blended traditional culture with the empowerment of modern women, creating a distinctive cultural experience. This initiative not only underscored the vital role women play in preserving traditional culture but also offered a platform for contemporary women to showcase their talents and boost their confidence. Through the study and practice of tea culture and the art of flower arranging, the female participants immersed themselves in the essence of Chinese traditions. They experienced the grace and tranquility of the tea ceremony and the creative expression inherent in flower arranging, highlighting the unique charm of modern women in the process.

The positive impact of the activity on female employees was multifaceted. Firstly, it enhanced their cultural literacy and aesthetic sensibilities, adding a layer of soft power to their professional development. Secondly, the activity provided a much-needed opportunity for relaxation and emotional regulation, contributing to improved work efficiency and overall quality of life. Additionally, the collective participation and interaction fostered better communication and understanding among the female employees, thereby strengthening team cohesion.

Conclusion

This International Women’s Day event not only improved personal cultivation and cultural literacy, but also enhanced team cohesion and injected new vitality into workplace life. Through the female perspective, we can see the depth of China’s 5,000 years of cultural heritage. Remembering history is to better create the future. If you forget history, you will lose your way forward. In the future, Nearchemical will explore more forms of activities that combine traditional culture with the modern workplace, or other forms of activities, to create more opportunities for employees to learn and grow, and will also open up new ways for the inheritance and innovation of traditional culture.

Dear clients and friends, welcome to Near Chemical! You will enjoy the unique Chinese tea and experience the profound Chinese tea culture in our company. It is our great honor to have you visiting us as a great guest.
